"Sonic The Hedgehog" was originally released on the Sega Megadrive/Genesis console back in 1991 by Sega and after some mild tweaks is available to all Xbox 360 users via the Xbox Live Arcade for as little as 400MS Points.
 Overview
Known to many as the birth of Sega's trademark hero "Sonic The Hedgehog" this game keeps the original adventure alive. Sonic was a world wide hit amongst console gamers of all ages as they powered through the acts trying to collect Rings and Choas Emeralds whilest trying to free animals trapped inside evil robots in Dr. Robotniks army and beating Robotnik himself. The enhanced Xbox 360 version of Sonic The Hedgehog including Achievements increases gamelife and a saveable feature always handy when unexpected things come up and you regretably have to leave your game.
Gameplay - 9/10
Well with this single player classic which is spot on with the original game and the simplicity of the controls anyone can pick up this game and play for hours without knowing from the most advanced player to a new player on the console guy or girl alike will enjoy this game and its added Achievement challenges adding in its own challenges.
The game itself can be controlled with either the left stick or the D-Pad and the GREEN (A) button for jump/attack. I found the D-Pad the best and brings back the original feel of the game back on Megadrive/Genesis

Finishing the game is one thing it is another to finishing it with all Chaos Emeralds and the original cheats have been all removed for any cheater out there.
Graphics - 9.5/10
As you would expect the graphics are exactly copy from the original console classic apart from the suttle HD enhanced graphics which do make a great improvement when viewing the game on a HDTV. Whether you choose authentic or enhanced graphics you will certainly enjoy this very simple title as it is because it doesn't require a heap of animation for you to enjoy playing the game.
Many console games in the past forced you to play with a border around your HDTV and that is one thing I couldn't stand but finally with the last few Xbox Live Arcade releases I have noticed they have gotten that issue sorted. You can now choose to customize the game to fit your tv so that you dont need to play with background art or borders.. This is one feature that nearly all early Xbox Live Arcade titles failed to supply. This option can be found within the HELP & OPTIONS screen.
Sound - 10/10
The sound effects and music have been enhanced for "Sonic The Hedgehog" but has not been changed to leave it like the original just better quality and sounds great on the right stereo but if you get sick of it you can put ur own music on over the top from your own personal collection.
Overall - 9.7/10
If you love your console classics then "Sonic The Hedgehog" is an absolute must have. I owed the original on the Sega Megadrive/Genesis and the re-release in the Sonic Mega Collection and for 400MS points it's worth owning this classic and is fun for gamers of all ages.
The Achievements overall are possible and can be obtained with a little time and effort so enjoy all achievement hunters good luck and enjoy. Good to see a game on Live Arcade where you can get the full 200/200 gamescore points.
